Kishalaya Institute for Slow Learners was born in 1999. It is the only school of its kind in North Kolkata to provide the requisite facilities and a comprehensive, individually tailored programme using modern and practical methods to teach and train these children to help face the challenges of daily life and work.

Well qualified faculty imparts knowledge of the 3Rs and the curriculum comprises of vocational training and extra¬curricular activities.The school started with five children and the number has gradually increased.

Kishalaya Institute does not refuse admission to any deserving child, even if he or she is unable to pay the fee. Some kind-hearted people also sponsor students who cannot afford the expense of their education.
